THE POWER OF THE INTERNET!
Never have I heard so much criticism of the Internet as lately on some of the "Fair and Balanced" news casts. Just heard one prominent commentator blaming the YouTube beating of a teenager in Lakeland, Florida on the Internet! Come on folks, the Internet is a medium and can be used for good or bad, just like any other medium. The YouTube video of teenagers beating up one of their peers was definitely filmed to put on YouTube. It reminds me of back in the 80s when there was a robbery of a business in Orlando, Florida. At that time, the new reflective heels were just the latest thing on sneakers. You had to pay a bundle for them, and the thief did...he paid, he put on his new shoes.he robbed, and as he ran, he left a beautiful trail for the police to follow. Dumb and Dumber in both instances. Who would believe a teenager would leave an eyewitness account to help establish their guilt? Well, almost everyone these days would believe it. Teenagers have always felt themselves invincible. It is part of the growing up process, and helps them wean themselves and face the fast coming world. You have seen them, daring the world to get in their way. Sometimes the world forgives and swerves around them and sometimes the world crashes in on them. However, the Internet is not the blame. The pompous spoiled teenagers who participated in this are the guilty ones. And if they are not prosecuted to the full extent of the law, the system is to blame.Seems the one thing parents are not teaching their teenagers is accountability. It will be interesting to see if the justice system gives remedial training.Life is a little slower here in Helen, Georgia. If you come to visit, welcome.
